Meet Josh
Joshua Scott McRoberts was born on February 28, 1987 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana and led the Greyhounds in both scoring and rebounding during his senior year. He averaged 17.9 points to go along with 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.0 blocked shots per game while guiding the Greyhounds to a 21-4 record and a trip to the sectional championship game in 2005. Out of high school, Josh was considered the number one power forward prospect, and was projected to be drafted in the 2005 NBA Draft had he declared. Instead, he chose to follow his boyhood dream and attend historical college basketball power Duke University to play for the Blue Devils.
At Duke, Josh averaged 10.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.9 blocked shots over the course of his two season as a Blue Devil. Josh was named to the ACC All-Freshman team, and helped the Blue Devils to a record of 32-4, the ACC Regular Season Title, and the 2006 ACC Tournament Championship during his freshman season. He was then named to the Freshman All-America third team by collegehoops.net. As a sophomore, he lead Duke to a 22-11 record while earning All-ACC Defensive first team and All-ACC second team honors. Josh then decided it was time to take his game to the next level, and entered his name into the NBA Draft.
Josh was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 37th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. During his rookie season, he spent time continuing to develop his game with the NBDL Idaho Stampede as the Trail Blazers had quality depth in the front court. On the night of the 2008 NBA Draft, Josh was traded by the Trail Blazers to his hometown Indiana Pacers.
In his first three season in the NBA, Josh was known as a high energy player off the bench who would provide a spark of intensity whenever was needed. Now after hours of hardwork and commitment in the off-season, Josh has earned the starting power forward spot for the Pacers. As one of the best passing big men in the NBA, the Pacers are looking for Josh to be an integral part of the offense as a playmaker, while also providing shot blocking and rebounding on the defensive end. However, Josh is going to continue to make a name for himself in the NBA by showing his high-flying athleticism that consistently gets him on NBA.com's Top 10 Dunks of the Night highlight session.
