Dynamic PDF Generation Application
Company Overview
EduCare Inc. is a dedicated breast health education company that was founded in January 1994 by Judy C. Kneece. For more than 15 years, EduCare has been a leader in providing the highest quality breast health educational materials for patients and healthcare providers, along with training healthcare professionals.
Challenge
EduCare was currently spending upwards of 6 hours to customize PDF teaching sheets for each new customer. This was taking a lot of time and resources for the in-house graphic design team. EduCare approached us in hopes that something could be done to automate this process and had been told by multiple other vendors it was not technically feasible. After doing a bit of preliminary research, Stormfront Productions felt up to the challenge.
Strategy
Our development team custom-built a web-based system to allow for a dynamic, automatic upload of a customer's logo file and would automatically resize and “stamp” the logo on all appropriate places on the PDF teaching sheets. An authenticated user accessing the application can stamp the logo across the entire document with just a few simple clicks or pick a specific topic area and have it displayed only in that section. All the PFD files were also encrypted for security purposes.
Additionally, a SaaS system was setup for users to have access to the latest version of the PDF materials. Usernames / passwords were setup to expire after 365 days of use and the individual or company logging in is notified and sent to the online ordering page to renew subscriptions. A backend tool was also created to add logos as needed as well as having the system automatically place the logo on the materials for the user at the time of purchase (integrated into the current shopping cart system).
Educare staff also now have the option to login and manually add logos to the materials with just a few clicks to cover phone and email orders.
Results
The project launched ahead of schedule and within budget. The EduCare graphic design team is now able to focus on other activities rather than daily "busy work" of adding and re-sizing customer logo files. The process is almost 100% fully automated for them.
