Pacman Takes Over Google's Homepage

It is a wonderful day for nerds everywhere! The 30th anniversaries of the Pac-Man game franchise and the 30th anniversary of the premiere of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

To celebrate this momentous day of nerd-dom, Google has created an interactive Pac-Man game on the main page of their website.

By inserting a virtual coin, users can play Pac-Man right from their desktops without having to find an arcade (much to the disdain of bosses and people who hate video game noise across the world).

Fellow nerd Jon Hoffman created a realistic Pac-Man, and luckily Pac-Man is still in his rudimentary low-resolution form on Google, otherwise he would be quite a scary character.

Nerds everywhere, celebrate your roots! As one of the biggest Star Wars nerds, I will surely be watching Empire tonight.

According to the latest news reports, 4.8 million hours have been wasted playing Pac Man on Google so far. Other reports have the total damage at $120 million in wasted hours for the U.K. economy. The people have spoken. Bring Pac Man back!

PacMan hours are never wasted hours.
