One of the first things we talked about together was the directions we wanted to take Stormfront and how it could benefit from our extra time, thought and energy. We were aided in our discussions by one of the two newest additions to the company, Trisha, as we offered ways we could improve the business. And then, before we could even finish our work day, Rob came down to deliver a pretty sobering "I'm going to need to see you all downstairs" moment. Uh-oh.
As we traversed warily down the stairs, someone cracked a joke about Stormfront going through some liquidation on the first day, and low and behold they were right. There on the conference room table was a glass of champagne, assorted soft drinks and a monster sized cake dawning the SFP lightning bolt and the word "Congratulations!" scrawled in various shades of blue over the white vanilla ice cream top layer.
Quite surprised, the three of us took a seat as everyone else gathered around to listen to Rob give a speech about our accomplishments and where he felt the next steps for SFP were. After that we were all stuffed with cake and liquid and ready for the next day of work. Obviously the other Office Space parallel would be Milton not getting to eat the cake he so desperately wanted, and in this scenario that was Mike, whose lactose intolerance kept him from eating his own congratulatory slice of ice cream pie!
One thing a good boss can do to ensure his company runs smoothly is show appreciation to the people below him. On the same token, the employees should always maintain the same mentality because a good company is going to be a team, and not just a bunch of people working around each other.
So from the employees back to Rob we give a collective thank you, and to the loyal readers of the Digital Buzz, we hope you all have something worth celebrating soon, and that you don't just get a case of the Mondays.
